CRAZY MATHS by Dev Popat, Age 10

Maths is a pain,

Whatever efforts are put
They are in vain.
Adding & subtracting is easy to do,
But multiplying and dividing makes me too dizzy.

Geometry & Algebra makes my head erupt
Like a volcano blast.
E.E (Environment education) & English are my favourites,
But once it is Maths, it makes me so mad!!!

I can write zillions of pages and
Run out of time,
MATHS MAKES ME GIDDY
ALL THE TIME!!!

Notes in My Pocket - Pranav Pendse, Age 12

I am rich I thought

I am earning at a young
age

Because in my pocket I
Found a page

No, not a normal one

That one had Rs.500
Written on it

It was a note

At that thought I began
To float

And please note

This one was a real
Note

I could buy a lot of things
With it.

Bananas, apples, pastries,
Chocolates and toys

With which I would be the
King of toys.

That’s when the thing started
Or ended

My father asked for it
Back

I didn’t want to give
It back
But there always has to be an end to that.

When I See Out of My Window - Vineeta Pendse, Age 11

When I get to my window and see out,
The rising sun looks very clear.
In a few minutes the sun is up,
The whole city can be seen now.
The sparrow are chirping now,
The roads are now filled with people,
Noises of cars and buses can be heard.

It’s afternoon now,
The sun is right up.
The building are having birds on them,
It’s silent now,
And the railway noises are clear.

It’s evening now
The noises of children can be heard.
The wind are blowing,
It is beautiful now.

The sun has started setting,
The birds are back in their nest.
The sky is black,
The moon and the stars are seen.

It’s night, everything is silent again.

The View From My Window - Jiya Pandya, Age 13

I’m tired of studying, I really am,
I don’t want to draw a diagram,
I’d rather look out the window. See,
The “natural beauty” that surrounds me!

The first visible thing’s a Peepul tree,
And a colourful variety of birds and bees,
The parrots resting on the wall,
The golden leaves, as they fall.

The crows building their small nests,
The pigeons pooping; OH! The pests!
I see the clouds that fill the sky
The planes that came soaring by.

And in the distance, beauty comes to me,
In the form of the blue-blue sea!
It’s just outside my small, sweet home,
The sight that inspired this poem!

True, its not the prettiest sight ever seen,
It’s not enchanting, somber, clean,
It’s not awesome as the white snow,

But I like the scene beyond my window!

A Dog’s Life - Damini Kane, Age 12

A dog’s life
Does not depend on its birth
It could be born
In a house
Or on the dirt
Now the doggie is a pup
It's running around and it's broken a cup
“Naughty puppy! Don’t do it again!”
See, he’s not listening
HE IS EATING MY PEN!
Now the puppy is a big dog
He has torn my pillow
And broken a small log!

No matter how bad he is
He is my friend
And he will be with me, till the end.

He is kind
He is loyal
He is pampered
But not royal

He is naughty
He is smart
To find something
He does not need a map or a chart

He is faithful
He is trustworthy
His fur is golden
And his name is Timothy

It does not matter
Weather a dog is a pet or a stray
All that matters is he is happy and gay!

My First Day in School - Arnaav Bhavnani, Age 9

Oh, it’s my first day in school,
I’m nervous, I’m shaky,
I’m scared, I’m quaky,
I just can’t do it, I just can’t.

Will the other kids laugh at me?
Will they tease me?
Or will they ignore me?
I don’t know, and I don’t want to know

I’m in the school bus and,
Everyone is too busy chatting to notice me
I’m relieved,
“Maybe it will be like this in school”
But I’m wrong, dead wrong…….

P.S. Try to predict the poem.
